Cool Independance day events:

I know. It's barely even started...

And for many, it's all about the fireworks - and that doesn't happen until the evening.

On a side note: Those of my friends and peers who have to stand duty onboard USS John C. Stennis will have the best vantage point in town to watch the fireworks tonight. About seven different displays, all reflected in the waters of San Diego harbor...

I kicked off my fourth with a 28 mile bicycle ride, and right now I feel sorta like a dried out beached jellyfish. BUT I GOT THE T-SHIRT! So hey, it wasn't all that tuff...

I just need to refloat my entire body, that's all.

The ride ended at a local park, and yep! There was a beer truck all right... I didn't stick around for long.

A Marine color guard came out from Miramar, and there was a parade somewhere nearby.

And later tonight I expect I'll mosey on down the street to the local high school, where they have a pretty fine fireworks show every year. It's best to walk to it though, because EVERYONE shows up for it!!!

I hope everybody is having a dang fine day, GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and Y'all try very hard to be safe out there - This is a holiday that is notorious for people inventing new ways to unintentionally hurt themselves...

I am doing my own show in my bakyard. I spent too much money, but what the heck it only comes once a year. Its a really good thing the chinese don't hate us, getting us to import their bombs, although most of the fireworks you guys will be watching are class a and b so they are made right here in the USA. Have a happy and safe 4th.

Well, my 4th was pretty relaxing..considering I had just come off an overnight 16 hour shift and my sleepless eyeballs looked like I'd already been'partying for a week.

First I went to the local 4th of July parade and enjoyed seeing every fire truck in the valley come up the street sirens blaring, lights flashing, etc,( good thing there were no fires ) kiddies with their lil batons a twirlin' and a few bands. Even a few horses at the end followed by the friendly local street sweeper.

I went out to my best friends family cabin at one of the local lakes and spent the afternoon basking in the sun and watching the kids on those new tube things they pull with boats. I never realized how many different positions a body can assume whilst flying thru the air after losing your grip on them things. It was almost like watching cartoons and ya see the guy flying thru the air in all kinds of positions with eyes as big as saucers.

After a nice picnic lunch and some more soaking up the sun, I called it day and headed back home to se if the wife was still alive. She never likes to go out to my friends cabin and always sends me off alone, saying "I don't feel good." Oh well..a good time was still had by all.

All in all it was a good day and I didn't even go to a fireworks display because I had to work again today. ( Yup-at work as we speak. Gonna be a mellow day, it looks like)

I did make it down the way to see the show -

Almost a half hour long, not bad at all.

I'll be layin' back for a while though, I have sore parts of me I didn't expect. But I'm still happy with it all!
