So the wife and I have decided its best for us (me) to build an adventure trailer.
So here's a couple things I've decided on so far...
F-250 long bed and chassis/axle
Lift it to match X height
Most likely install sway bar
Home built shell
Roof top tents
Color match the X
Going with a surge brake setup(need brakes to register over 3k in AZ)
^ I have to research this a little more
So the question I really have is about the axle, can I pull axles and carrier?
If it is possible I'd like to remove the center section all together and have a straight tube axle. I know I can but an axle like this but not with 8x170 bolt pattern. I would like to have same wheels and tires on x and trailer.
I know it's a full floating axle, my concern was getting oil to the wheel bearings.
Any and all input/opinions would be greatly appreciated
TIA

Reason: Grammar
I would pull the axles, weld in a plug in the axle tube, then either drill a hole in the hub to fill with oil and plug it or put a grease/oil zerk in the hub to pump in oil.
You would either have to cut the end of the axle off for a "cap" or make one up.
I too have always wanted to build an "Adventure trailer" I even did up a simple design, based off of a teardrop sleep inside design. My idea is to have a double sleeping platform inside, a place for the kids to sleep, and a place for me and the wife.
Maybe one of these days if I can come up with the money, I will make this happen... Until then, here is to dreaming.
Here is what it could look like, please note, this is not to scale
What do you think about using one of the military surplus trailers? Alot of those are already lifted and rugged, can be had cheap at auction and then you just need to relamp and rewire for 12v, just don't get the ones with air brakes.
Just buy an axle tube and ask to have the hubs drilled for 8x170. Much cheaper and easier to get parts for it. Then you can use electric brakes or Hyd Brakes. Most trailer builders have the tubes in stock and can assemble them quickly or go to Redneck Trailer Supply. If it isn't available they will have it shipped in quick.

I've looked into those, but I think the matching body lines adds to the "cool" factor.
