If the cylinder is okay, replace the piston and rings in that hole.

Did you have any codes set? What do the other pistons and valves and general cylinders look like? If the problem is only evident in this one cylinder I would put a fresh injector in this cylinder when putting it back together. I would also check fuel pressure.

A lean condition causes extra heat. The question is, in one cylinder or all of them?
