Can some one please help me decode my 1969 ford F250, it seems like it was one of the last on the 1969 assembly line because it seems to have a 1970 bed in it but all looks original on the truck, i can't seem to find any record of it anywhere my VIN# IS F25YRF97014 If you see this post Number One Dummy please help!!!! Thanks
F25 = F250 2x4
Y = 360 engine
R = San Jose, CA Assembly plant
F97014 = Conscutive Unit Number.
(From Fordification website) While researching these VIN pages, there have been many conflicting sets of numbers discovered. The numbers listed above are those listed in the 'Catalog of Ford Truck ID Numbers 1946-1972' and supported by the 1969 Ford factory repair manual. However, the Oct. 1972 issue of Ford's technical bulletin 'Shop Tips' lists the consecutive numbers for 1969 as D82,000 thru G29,999 and the 1975 Ford Master Parts Catalog shows D82,001 thru G30,000. In addition, reportedly the figures in the shop manuals are off some because they were printed at the beginning of the production year run. I've also heard from several truck owners who report higher unit numbers than either set listed here. For example, I've received several e-mails from '69 truck owners with larger consecutive unit numbers, one with 'F91709' and another one with 'F94511', so the research will continue. Stay tuned!

Thanks NumberDummy, I have seen this info on the site before but just couldn't figure out the month it was produced and was concerned because my bed had the side marker lights that are usually seen on the 70 and up trucks. So no way of knowing the month on this right
You can look at date codes in the sheet metal and on any original pieces. Easiest (relative) way is to look at the date code stamped on the back of your cluster. It will be within a month of production of the actual vehicle. As said, F64000 is supposedly the 'last' serial number for 69, based on projections. But 69 was a banner year for Ford. Look for July/August date codes on things; Letters G and H.
I think that ND might have said one time that the bedside marker lights were started at a certain point in the 69 model year.
I was thinking that my vin# seems to be in line towards the end of 1969 according to the Ford vin sheet # sequence since my vin# seems to be after the last numbers of August/69 and I haven't seen other 69 trucks with the side market lights, I'm thinking that they started putting them on since they were rolling out 70's new parts

That is some damn good info NumberDummy! That clears up any doubts I had in regards to the side marker lights on my truck I definitely have the ones with the bulbs, thanks a lot for the info I appreciate it!!!
My 1969 has a 1970 box. I was underneath the truck installing the transmission when I noticed red paint underneath the box. My truck is not at all red. I then looked inside the box and saw that the original colour seemed to be white, whereas my truck's main body colour is green. Went on Fordification and sure enough I have a 1970 box. I tried contacting the previous owner to receive some more details on this matter, but to no avail.
I don't think mine's been switched because it had the original green and white color combo paint on the bed and cab when i purchased it, it was clearly original paint because there was no other signs of paint on the cab ans bed.
