Question Keep replacing spindles

Hey guys, got another one of those opinion questions. How long does a spindle usually last on a daily driver with little off road time? Ive go t a '72 F-100, 4X4 I've had 'er about 5 years now & have replaced my passenger spindle twice now. Both times it was sheared clean through & pretty much fell off after we got it lifted up on the jack, both times I was very lucky to make it to where I did. Anyway, this seems kinda extreme, replacing it twice, same side. The last time we had to do the swap out in a parking lot of a local motel at midnight & the only spindle we could come up with was off of a Jeep, so far so good but Im also wondering if in fact that one is compatible or should I change it out for the correct one?
Thanking you in advance for the input!

.......the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked!

Keep replacing spindles

I have a 1971 F-100 4x4 with the original spindle and probably 112- 212K miles. Your problem is probably a bad pressed on brake drum that is not seated all the way. If you are putting on drums without pressing them on or reaming the stud holes, you are doing it incorrectly and have a real dangerous problem.

Search in the 67-72 Forum and see the warnings some kind person posted after the wheel fell off his sons truck.

I reamed out my drums myself and so far have over 3k on the drums with no problems and drive up to 70 mph at times. You just have to make sure it seats completely and test it by repositioning the drum five times around the studs to make sure every hole will fit every stud.
