Gasping for Power
Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help? I have a 1997 Ford van E-150 with a 4.2 V6. Here is my ongoing problem. While driving or excelerating from a stop my engine will gasp for power. The best way for me to describe this problem is like taking my foot off the gas pedel and back on 3 - 4 times really fast ( a jerking motion )! I'll drive okay for a while and it starts over again. A local Ford dealership did a diognastic and suggested that I replace the electronic ignition coil, spark plugs and plug wires - didn't solve the problem. A tune-up didn't work. A friend who is a mechanic and taking auto classes at our local community college took my van to class. They believe one of the wiring harnesses next to the coil is coming loose.
Does anybody have a solution?
