Make your own laminate ! Like building a bow . A bit of work , build your own " structure " is what I was saying . Laminating wood is old tech . A bit of a lost art for small scale builders .

it seems like a solid chunk would hold up best. it looks like in the pic thers straps around the log, that would probly be better with a winch so it cant get pulled off the screws.

my tube bumper just cost me some welding rods and time since i already had the pipe and metal laying around plus its tougher and lighter than a big chunk of wood and as stated before wouldn't have the problem of ripping your bumper off while using your winch a couple years down the road i did a 20 mph crash into a tree to test it didn't even leave a dent..... but if i were gonna do it i would definitely use about a 6" x 6" chunk of hedge it will never warp or rot and is super tough will have a great look years down the line too

yes hedge is a tree it grows like crazy around here it is a hard dense wood that has large wrinkled "hedge apples" all over it about the size of softballs and bigger it also has thorns on it it has a yellow colored inside and a milky white fluid in the apples and under the bark..... also known as osage orange and bois de arc (bo-darc)

I would not wanna be on the other end of that winch in a life or death situation, lol.

I dont like the idea at all, but, if you could get a hold of a power pole, you might have a decent shot at it. Power poles are heat treated and made to last for years.

Just saying...

Seriously? That bumper is built out of 4" schedule 80 pipe, full pen welded angles with 7018 rod and weighs over 100 lbs. The frame of my truck would break or bend long before I damaged that bumper.

It's your truck and you're free to do what you want with it, but no matter what you do building a bumper out of a log is stupid and just plain bad idea, and I think most of the users here will agree with me.
