Squeek in steering column when turning

I have a squeak that developed in the steering column whenever I turn the wheel. It is as if something lacks lubrication. It does it in all steering positions. I guess next step is to open it up and see if I can get closer to the source so I can hit it with WD40.

Anyone else have this problem.

My F250 does this too. It hasn't bothered me enough to look into it yet.

Mine is doing it too! After this very nasty and salty winter I am sure it needs some lube somewhere. I tried inside on the steering column and outside(which was a spray and pray I hit it) Couldn't see it very well.

Before you tear into the column, try lubing the rubber where the shaft goes thru the floorboard

Rubber Shaft Lube

Ok, I lubed the rubber shaft going through the firewall and this seems to have fixed 90% of the rub and noise. Thanks!

My F350 Super Duty just developed this squeak right after putting new brake pads on the front. Does anyone know if there is a connection, or should I just try lubing as suggested?
