Leaking fuel tank - 2006 E-450

2006 E-450 6.0L diesel on a 26' motorhome class C

The fuel tank started leaking yesterday. I haven't driven the rig in about a month, when I topped the fuel tank off. The temperatures are starting to really warm up now. The leak is maybe coming from the top, but the drip is off the back tank strap. The rig sits on the driveway a little sloped, so the front is higher than the back by maybe 8".

Something to be alarmed at? I figure the diesel fuel has expanded a bit, but the tank connections shouldn't leak, eh? The tank is steel, 55 gallons. I really have to work to get the last 10 gallons in the tank due to foaming. It's going to be a few more weeks before I can put some miles on the RV and get the fuel level down. I took it for a few laps around the neighborhood and the leak is still going.

I thought both gas and diesel vans/trucks used the same fuel tank, hence the need to "bayonet" the diesel tank. It shouldn't have a vent, right? A vent would goof up the emission controls.

Howdy,

Vents are a thing of the past.

You have a leak. I would remove the tank and fix it.
