I just recently had my '93 F250 4X4 460 E4OD transmission rebuilt. All soft parts updated pump, selenoid pack etc. HD Torque converter the works and $2800.
Well the shop was having a problem with a harsh 2-3 upshift and a somewhat harsh OD upshift. The said they narrowed it down to my PCM.
I decided to test my TPS and I really can't see how to adjust it. At idle I got .85 and at WOT I got 4.75. I tried to adjust it to 1.0 at idle at 4.5 WOT, but I always get a reading of 4.75 at WOT and harsh shifts still persist.
Was the shop right and I need a new PCM. HELP PLEASE I don't want to blow another transmission.
Those numbers sound about right for a TPS. The ideal idle numbers are as close to 1.0 volt as possible. and WOT should be fairly close to 5 volts. My TPS also sits at or about .85 volts.
I'm not familiar with the E4OD so I've not got much for advice there.
It's not the torque converter. The shop hooked it up to a new computer and it shifted like a dream. The harsh up shift is almost like being rear ended.
Ok new TPS new (used) computer and the problem still persists. Put a volt meter on the TPS and the ground showd .04 so I went ahead and put a new ground in now it's at .01.
TPS ground. .01 center wire is .96-4.66 and the third wire is 5.04.
I don't know what to do now the problem is still there. Shifts awesome 1-2 then 2-3 feels like you get rear ended 3-od feels fine.
HELP I need this truck and I can't put much more money into it I am already out 2800 for the month.
