tranny swap

relatively speaking, how difficult is it to swap an aod tranny in for a c6 in a 1987 f-150 extended cab lwb fi 302?

Not terriblly difficult as long as they are both the same type... 2wd or 4wd.

I think you will have to swap the shift indicator in the cluster. Not sure if you know this or not.
I believe a C6 is P R N D 2 1
and the AOD is P R N OD D 1

Kicking a dead horse here, but just to clarify:
You can straight up drop out the C6 and pop in a AOD, simple as pie?
i have a 87 302 2WD reg cab long bed
and as long as i pull the AOD out of another 2WD f150 ill be fine?

edit: in saying 'simple as pie', i understand there's nothing simple about swapping a trans, but 'simple as pie' as in
old C6 -> new C6 is as easy as old C6 -> new AOD
