clearance lights

im wanting to smoke my clearance lights on my 97 f3, im thinking about pulling a set of lenses from the junk yard to use so that if they get messed up or i don't like them i can go back.
do yall have any suggestions on how i can go about smoking out the lights?

The easiest way is to use plastidip. If you don't like the outcome, you can peel it off.

Silly question. Why not purchase smoked lights or the covers? As you can tell from my picture. Have the Atomic Led cab lights installed on my 150. These are amber for driving and strobe blue when snow plowing.

Do they have a semi transparent version for lights?

Just go to the local hardware store, I went to an Ace Hardware, and got some Night Shades spray paint. I used it to tint the amber running lights I put behind my FX4 black grill so they wouldn't show too easily.

You just need to practice a little before you paint your lights to get it nice and even. The more coats you spray the darker they get tintied.

ACE had nothing for me. Autozone had lens tint paint. I picked up a can. However, my lens assemblies are so old I can't do anything without breaking them.

So, now I am on the hunt for a new kit to just swap them out.

you could try replacing the bulbs with tinted bulbs from superbrightleds.com, or something. I dont know the theory well, but you could try one bulb and see how it looked.

I want the lens darker. I'm not digging the orange globs on the roof look. LOL

Besides, I couldn't get my lenses off without destroying the lights at this point.

I understand. In my case, if I want smoked lights I either have to change kits (which would mean scraping all the old silicon off and starting over) or replace them with OE lights and tint them myself.

I am leaning towards a whole new kit so I can go with LED's.
