What did you guys do?

Ok, so my truck came from PO with the old-school bench seat cover. You can see it below:

Kind of a girl problem, but when I drive it, I'm usually wearing shorts and the friction during shifting turns the back of my legs into red, rashy nastiness. TMI, I know, but it's an issue....

Getting the seat reupholstered at this point is not a priority (at least not until we get to the interior part of resto) and the original cover is ripped below the current cover.
So what did you guys do for covers? I looked on Amazon, and there's a lot of covers available that are saddle blanket material, zebra/leopard print, camo, have a stupid design, or are fuzzy. Or the covers are really cheap quality and the reviews say they rip easy. So I'm looking for a cover that is of decent quality/price that's not going to make me look like a leper after driving for 5 minutes.

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find good seat covers? Where did you get yours if you liked yours? Can you point me to a good site?

old_dan has the nicest looking seat cover in his truck that I've seen. Maybe he'll chime in here, or you can send him a PM. I forgot where he said he got it, but I'll be asking him when I get around to doing mine.

I got a diy kit from Mac's. If your original padding can be reused, it isn't too pricy.

For the afternoon drive today, throw a towel over it.

You might try washing the present seatcover with a rinse of fabric softener. Even so, I think Jeremy's got the simplest solution, an old bedsheet would be good too.

Last summer I had a Delta airlines blanket that I put down wherever I was going to sit, but that was more hassle than it was worth.

I have a little bit of time to figure this out. Still over a foot of snow on the ground and the roads are still salty, so she's not coming out of the garage for a while- at least until the rain clears the road of salt!

Appreciate the input, everyone! I'm on my way to Home Depot to check out materials to put on the floor. All of the weather strips are gone, so when I take her out, I jam a flip flop between the doors and the floor and drive sans shoes to keep things quiet. Toes get a little chilly, so I am planning on putting temporary carpeting/rugs down...

I put one of the Cabela's Trail Gear seat cover's on my son's 68 Chev, They are cordura (very durable but not abrasive). They are made with head rest covers, but I just tucked them in.

JC Whitney has lots of covers, I got one for a 50 Ford car several years ago and it worked fine and not too pricey.

Do what hot rodders have been doing for the last 50 years: Buy a couple matching (or contrasting?) 5.00 Mexican blankets and some HD elastic from a fabric store or Wally World. Make simple slip covers.

Yes, my youngest. And she has four older brothers.

Cat, would you rather have the cheap (but durable-I redid the seat in1977) vinyl seat in my 54? If I got in the truck with my soccer shorts on a hot sunny day.... woo, it would almost burn the skin! I would have to sit on my hands. (That made it tough to drive!)And then when my son was little wearing his cute little kids shorts.... so I would put a towel on the seat in the summer time.... not to sit on but to keep the sun off the vinyl so it was bearable to sit on.

I know this doesn't help you but.... "I feel your pain!"
