Overdrive indicator light flashing
The overdrive indicator light on my 97 F150 started flashing recently when I have to accelerate hard while carrying a load. Nothing particularly heavy.
When I shut the truck off and then restart the light is gone and everything seems normal. Even while it is flashing the tranny shifts fine and everything seems smooth.
Anybody know what it might be? Is it trying to tell me I shouldn' t have it in overdrive. It has never done it before. The owners manual says this happens when it has detected a malfunction.

Hi BGreener and welcome to FTE 
If the OD light is flashing your trucks PCM has seen something it doesnt like and will have set a trouble code for it. The next step is to take it and get it scanned for codes. Quite likely it is something simple like a Vehicle Speed Sensor but you should get it checked in case it is something that can cause problems.

I actually did a little searching on this site and a couple other sites after posting the thread, I probably should have searched first, and found quite a bit of info on it.
I took it to my favorite shop this morning to get the codes checked.
I don't know if it is related but I also crawled under there last night to take a look at the sensors and noticed that the seal on the transfer case seems to be leaking. They are going to fix that too. It's something that I could probably do myself but I am supposed to be leaving for a week at the lake tonight and don't have time. I rather it be done before I go.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. I actually found a lot of great information on this site. It's great.
