I am an idiot please help.

O K so i pumped about 7 gallons of DEF in my fuel tank probably had close to 20 gallons of diesel in it. I did not start it and I pulled the fuel pump relay fuse before I turned the key to put it in neutral to get it on the roll back. Should I just pay the price and have the stealership do the work or is it something that I could do without worry of damage.

thank you for all input and info and feel free to bash the idiot.
thanks again guys.

I'd lean towards taking it to the dealership. However, it also depends on the dealer. I'd be concerned that all they would do is recommend a complete fuel system replacement and then document DEF in fuel system within OASIS. If you know the dealership and you're comfortable with them it would be worth letting them do a system flush.

With the fuel pump relay fuse pulled there is no way the def would leave the tank right?

Since you didn't start the engine, personally, if you are capable of doing the work yourself, that's what I would do. Drain the tank, yank it out from under the truck, either flush it out with fresh fuel, replace the filter and flush out the filler neck, or replace the tank with a new one. Not sure how much an OEM tank costs, but there are aftermarket ones available also.

In the end it's your choice. You have to do what you are comfortable with. I wouldn't involve FOMOCO at this point.

Or, there is an alternative route. Report it to your Insurance as a comp claim or a vandalism and let them foot the bill.

I once went to add DEF to my truck and unscrewed the fuel cap. That's as far as I got, but, it sure got my attention. Maybe we should both go with a tuner and delete kit and we won't make that mistake again. Hope you get going again soon.

It is within the DFCM (where the **** is that you drain the water). Inside the frame rail on the driver's side.

Personally. I would drain the tank. Remember def is most water so its sitting at bottom of tank. Flush tank and replace fuel filter. Id let bowl sit outside couple hours and see if you see any crystals. Def flush filler tube and hose. I wouldn't consider the dealer at all.

Correct. But FOMOCO has standard guidance they provide to the dealers that isn't always based on best practice or reality. The words "DEF+FUELTank= FuelSystemReplacement. Not covered under warranty."

As others have said, better safe to drop and flush the tank yourself. If any DEF makes it to the HPFP Ford knows exactly what that looks like and will react accordingly if you have a failure.

Ok. Just new to diesels, and didn't want to put diesel in a truck that is bad for it...
