it does it when i go to stop or if i put it in n it wont die sometims its got a rebult tran v6 2.9l engen torc converter has been replaced on it as well
Funny you mention that. My Dad, being the great guy he is, gave me his old '89 BII after we put in a new Flywheel. I was on leave from Texas and had to drive it back from Illinois and I was experiencing the exact same thing. For me it just wouldn't downshift; it would lug and then finally pop into a lower gear, if it didn't, it would die. While it was running warm I checked the fluid levels because sometimes that will be the cause, but it was ok. If I find out what's wrong with it I'll let you know.
I know this'll prolly sound dumb, but did u check the air filter? My truck had a VERY rough idle when I got it, and if I let it sit there at idle it would eventually die. I checked the filter, and it was clogged. I replaced it, hasn't done it since.

brco dieing
i have a 84 b2 that i went 4x4 with and I noticed that the temp was abnormally hot.....
So i stopped to let it cool off......and now it will not start...
the starter turns and I can smell the gas in the carb
but it just won't start
any suggestions?
have you even checked your oil? I just started getting water into the oil, and when I was driving it to get the oil changed (to see if it would continue getting water in it) it would run rough as hell at a stop and the truck would shake, but it never got to the point of dying. The only other thing I could think of is the cam (considering racing cams tend to die, and I'm wondering if your cam could be worn, but I dunno, I doubt it though). I can't tell you any more else because most things about engines I know I'm a novice.
With the truck idleing in park/neutral pull the connector off, the truck should die you drop idle speed big time. Also running a KEOR test would be a good idea, the procedure should be in the tech info post, if its not there I know I have it in the one on our Ranger forum.
