83 Frame and I beam Question

Doing some work on my 83 to replace a spindle Thought maybe it'd be easier to get the spindle and the I beam as a unit Yard the spindle is coming from realized there are two different I beams in the trucks...Truck is a 2wd originally an inline 6 One is like a welded box ? other is the Cast I beam. When they realized this they asked if we were sure the pickup was a 150 and not a 100. Did 100s and 150s have different I beams ?? Mines an 83 bt maybe the cab ended up on an older frame. Are the vin numbers on the frames too ? Where else can I look to match up the vins ??

What is your Truck F150 or F250 .I believe the F150 had the boxed twin I beams and the F250 the solid cast beams

Actually, plenty of the 150's have cast. Ray1986F150's are cast, for instance, and it is a light duty 150 with a 302.

Truck is a 150.. 5 lug wheels an all but today I seen 3 different Bullnoses and only 1 had the Boxed ones like mine think it was the 82 in the yard. I just dunno the difference. Are the boxed ones stronger ?? Lighter ... did the original motor define them ??

Personally I think the cast ones were much better .The boxed ones were probably cheaper to make. As you all know the Auto companies are always wanting to make stuff cheaper using less or cheaper material. they never know how to leave a good thing alone that works and lasts.

I would prefer the cast as well. But the only real reason I have is that it is easier to press, push the bushings out as the boxed ones will collapse if not done correctly.

Yes, you are correct, the parts catalog verifies it.
