I have a 65 ford f-100 and currently have the speakers in the headliner corners. makes it easy to hear when the windows are down. im thinkin about changing it up a little any ideas
I've had mine in the doors and no issues yet!
if your worried, make sure the weather stripping is decent..but my truck is completely missing that luxury altogether right now, and like I said..no problems to report after multiple car washes, rain storms and any unmentionables.
What about the space between the door and the front of the cab well? Anyone try that spot? Between the door hinges?
If you put them in the door, you could wrap the back side in plastic (or drape it over the top of the speaker)
Haven't got that far but I've wondered also. I don't want to cut any metal and don't want them in the headliner. I've installed stereo for 24 years now for myself and friends. Kind of lost on this one. Thinking maybe head unit in glove box with one those Bluetooth that auto connects to smartphone, control volume from phone.
Speakers without modifying metal, still sound decent without some ting metal enclosure sound, and don't effect appearance much....beats me for a location.
I haven't measured to see if they will fit yet but I am probably going to go with low profile speakers under the seat.

For those of you who must put speakers in the door, use Marine speakers.
Bose makes a nice Marine speaker. There are other makers out there who make quality Marine speakers.
I have two 6x9s under the front edge of my seat and two 6x9s above the tank but I also have a split bench seat from a 78 t-bird in the truck so the two on the tank are exposed to the cab
another idea to protect yur door speakers is find a tupperware bowl that fits the speaker to cover the back. However I've had door speakers my whole life in a bunch of different cars, and never had an issue.
