Clear or Tinted Glass/Ford script

My 1949 F4 226 restoration project is ready for glass. This has been a total frame off restoration but with a few updates that were added by original owner (turn signals and marker lights) and some of mine (6v-12v conversion, upholstery instead of hardboard) so I am open to subtle change. I know a lot boils down to personal preference; however input will be appreciated. Should all glass be clear or all tinted, windshield only tinted and rest clear? What about, Ford script etching?

Originally, all the glass was clear. Having the glass made with standard automotive tint will not be dark enough to look out of place and cut back on some of the suns heat and uv rays. Even if you did just the windshield tinted and the rest of the glass clear for a more stock look, it will help with glare while driving. Darker tint can be used if you want a more custom look. Adding the Ford script, or "bug" as it's known in the glass business, can be expensive and you really have to want it or are building a points-type show truck to justify the expense.

I agree with Wayne. I used the green tint and really like it. It's not noticeable unless you are really looking.

Thanks, this confirms the configuration I was leaning towards. Tint on the windshield, clear for the rest. The "bugs" are not necessary, I am not after points just a good looking, fun truck.

Why not get the rear glass tinted?

In 53 tinted glass was an option. I think Ford called it Easy Eye Glass. Was it not an option for 48-52?

You can add the "bugs" to the glass your self: Roy Nacewicz Enterprises Ltd - Ford Bolts

I have not. Other local car club members have used his glass bug kits with good results. I think one of the tricks is you learn on the old glass you are removing before doing the new glass.

Thanks for the link - was looking for a way to cover up after my feats of strength test with my back window.
