So I'm getting off the interstate, truck is running great. Until I stop at the light. All of a sudden thick white exhaust coming out of pipes, enveloping surrounding vehicles, and motor starting to run rough. Light turns green and I pull out in front of oncoming cars to quickly turn into 7-11 parking lot turn motor off and yell out...****.
I check under hood, under truck, check oil. everything looks good. try to start motor and nothing. To me, it sounded like motor seized up. I called a mech. he thought it was bad oring on injector and hydro locked. My question is, can I just take out glow plugs and then try and start again? I googled Hydro locked motors and did not like what I saw. Connecting rods bent or broke. Or do I need new motor?
If it was really hydrolocked, I'd turn the motor by hand after pulling the glowplugs. The starter will just make a mess of the fluid in there by spraying it out too fast.
Sounds like the logical next step to me. If you can have someone turn it over by hand while you watch, that would probably be the best way to do it. It will still make a mess if there's liquid in the cylinder; I managed to shoot oil about 6 feet even turning it by hand.
Yep, it was fuel. Going over to where my truck was towed yesterday. Pull VC and glow plugs. Wish me luck!
Ha..what do I know! It was coolant in cylinders, #2 and #8. So then I'm told that my cups are cracked. Took them out and inspected them closely. I could not see anything. Putting new ones in today, as soon as it warms up (colorado).
Oh and one more thing. At the risk of coming off as an Idiot, removing #2 injector revealed that I had missing brass washer. Opps, that was my bad. New O rings were put on by me, couple of months ago. And that first O ring on injector was spilt. Got new O rings for the two Injectors. This time from ford. Going to use marine grease. Im hoping that new brass washer is going to quiet down my motor finally.
I have to say...all of you...ALL OF YOU, that have gone under the VC's multiple times have my highest respect. I think that if I would have to do some of these things that many times I'd light it on fire and walk away. My legs and calves still hurt 2-3 days after.
