I have friends from church up here in lovely Central Ontario that are transition Foster parents and have between their family and the foster kids have out grown their Suburban and need a 12 passenger van that is in good shape.
I see them at Costco buying carts of food for the kids each week so their budget is tight. They love my van but need at least 9 seats, so a 12 passenger factory van or a 9 passenger conversion will work.
If you see a good deal let me know, they will travel to the USA to pick-up.
I'm guessing their budget is far lower, but in the Detroit area (I live 4 miles from Windsor, just across the lake) there are like 2013 fleet E350's with ~20k miles on them for $20k. Not what I want either, but these are such a stupid good deal that it makes me want to buy one. My local dealer has I think 10 of them, white and sliver, with 12 seats. Please let me know if it's wrong to post this, but it breaks my heart. I know one of the used car salesmen there really well and use the dealer for service. I could even check one out for someone, but hell, there are TEN of the things... Used Ford Vehicle For Sale | Mike Dorian Ford Serving Clinton Township, MI
That is a great deal! I will be in Wixom next week so I will go check them out, might buy one for me too!
Cheers
I'd like to see them go to friends--this is a stupid good deal for vehicles still under the new car warranty. I remember when the same dealer had 1-year old 2007 Tauruses with 10-20k miles on them for like $11,000...barely more than half the sticker price. I wanted one so bad but I needed a station wagon/SUV.
See Pete Brocko in the used car dept and tell him I sent you (George Dubrish). He is a good guy and will treat you right.
Although we live in Grosse Pointe, my wife works in Wixom (41 miles away) for Detroit Public TV, but she will retire next week after 40 years there. (They moved to Wixom in 2009.)
Just sharing thoughts - With a front bench, our '97 Suburban seats 9. The last row is only good for kids or short rides for adults. We find the cargo area more useful than a van's for everything but a large flat screen TV. Can't get my bike in the cargo area of a van without removing the last row. It's generally easier to load the roof of a 'burb than the roof of a van. Plus many/most Suburbans are 4WD which might work better in lovely central Ontario. If the budget is really tight, the front bench from a contemporary GM truck is far cheaper than another vehicle.
If you move the 4-place 4th row of a 12-place van to the 3rd row position, you'll have 9 seats and more cargo room than any Suburban. Or get an E150 with a pair of 3-pace benches and swap the 3-place last row for a 4-placer for 9 places.
We had a 15-place extended Dodge van and left the last row in the garage. Seating for 11 and a walk-in closet Used extended vans don't usually cost more than regular length vans and in some areas are easier to find.
I used to buy Ford corp E-350 15pass window vans that were coming off lease after 1-2 yrs in service. Most were corporate or school leases. They had all the options===dual heat/air power everything. I would get them at less than 1/2 price of new. Usually about 50,000 miles. Check e-bay or auto trader. They are great deals.even if you have to travel to pick it up.Some complain about the ride in a 350 but they are build like a tank and can take the abuse and miles.I just retired my last one,,, a 95 with over 300.000 mi and very low maint cost over almost 20 yrs! Tabijan, their Burban is on its last legs. It was gifted to them and it has lived its great life. As for the weather I have made out OK with the open rear on my E over the last 5 years. Good tires make the difference.
Rick, that is what I am looking for them and me too!
