New Guy on block
New to the site, just purchased a 78 F-250 2WD. It has a 77 3/4 ton frame with the 460 motor. Never really been a big car guy as I never had anyone to teach me but I love my truck and have already started restoring it so I figured I mine as well get my hands dirty and teach myself while I'm young. Does anyone know of any local swap meets in the Des Moines area? Does any of the Iowa guys ever get together to show off there rides and shoot the bs? If so that would be sweet.

Thanks man! Happy I found this forum. I had a ton of questions and already ran into a couple things that stumped me and so far I've been able to get every question answered here. So many things to do to the truck it's hard to tell where to start lol!! Changed the oil and diff fluid today, thinking about tearing off the front and rear axel to have powdercoated before adding the lift.

You just missed the swap meet in Des Moines, it is the first weekend of May at the fair grounds, not sure if the one at Adel is still happening or not. Used to be one every year out to Boone too. If you feel like road triping, Cedar Rapids has one twice a year, and there is one even a bit farther at Monticello.
If we can get enough people interested, we can certainly do a meet. I currently am generally in Ankeny most weekdays, so am already close. We haven't had one for a while just because it has been hard to get interest. Nothing says we can't do a smaller informal meeting as well though.

well, unless someone just has alot of spare tire, an event is pretty much out unless we do something in the fall. So I would think something informal. Weekends are bestest You wanna start this in a new thread? I am guessing there will be some driving for some of us, but if we had a better idea of who wants to come then we can pic a location that accommodates the most people coming. The only week I cannot is week of the 4th. And if I figure in camping with it, my wife will be on board, lol.
