d60 axle bolts

well as most of you know a few weeks back i did a rear disk conversion on my truck. well the conversion is still working awsome but a week ago i noticed i had some grease spots on the outside (inner) part of my passenger side wheel. and it looked like it was seeping out through the bolts that hold the axle in. well i kept driving it and yesterday i noticed it was actually leaking (not seeping) so i grab a socket and ratchet. sure enough the 4 bolts that were leaking were really loose. i dont have a torque wrench but i have a good idea how tight say 100 foot pounds is without using a torque wrench just from wrenching for years. how tight should these bolts be? also should i put and sealant in the bolts when i go to tighten them down? kind of like on some water pumps?. keep in mind its only one side that is doing this also.

oh it also has new metal gaskets between the axle and the hub and were cleaned very well before bolted together

As for torque. I don't recall how much is called for. Look in a Haynes or Chilton's -- I am pretty sure those are 3/8 bolts ( 9/16 socket). I use orange perma tex on those axle seals and have great luck -- no leaks or seepage at all. Squirt a little power punch in the bearings before you slide the axles all the way back in to prevent them from running dry, or drive around sidehilling to get gear lube out to them and then recheck your level in the diff.
