pulling a tree stump

Moving into my new house in a few days and there's a holly tree in the front yard that blocks the view of the front of the house so I'm getting rid of it.
I was hoping to pull it out but I don't know if that's going to happen easily with my 4.9 5 speed. I'll probably dig a good hole around it and sawzall the majority of the visible roots.

Anyone know if my truck will be up to pulling it out after I do that?

Yes. I've only used it for a boat so far.

Just take it easy. If it doesn't want to come out, dig some more, cut some more roots and try again.

I have to rip about 100 or so burning bushes surrounding the property out too. Apparently the po was very reclusive but I've got a lot of work to do.

Using a ****** strap, leave enough slack to get the clutch released and have the truck rolling before the strap is pulled tight. When you feel it hit the end, gun it til she starts digging in and quits moving forward. Do this as many times as needed... of course if the tree don't budge you should try it another way.

Using a chain, well you don't want to ****** on a chain. If that's all you've got then the way to do it is idle out til you get to the end and the slack is out of it, then start your pull.

You can drill a bunch of holes in it and fill the holes with potassium nitrate. The stump will rot fairly quickly, and then you can just bust it up and plant.

I read that online. How long does that process take and is it something I can get at lowes?

Pulled a tall bush out with my '90 5.0 and a tree with my neighbors Expedition. Just make sure to cut all the roots. Also, use a chain or heavy duty rope, don't use nylon rope or tie straps

How big is this "tree"?

How tall is it?

Diameter at ground level?

No need be exact ruff guess would suffice.

Must be its not overly large or wouldn't be talking pulling it out with a pickup to start with.

Connect strap 10 - 12' above the ground (or more) on one that's 5-6" in diameter down at ground level, would be able pull it out snap it off below ground fairly easy.

Go to high though can snap tree off above ground level, don't wanna do that.

Length of strap comes into play as well as surface truck is on while pulling, concrete or asphalt is obviously better than grass/dirt. If can use enough strap to get truck well away from tree and in the street helps couple ways, better traction and reduced angle of pull. Don't want angle of strap lifting rear of truck during the pull.

I would guess it's around 20 ft tall, I haven't looked at the base because we haven't signed the papers yet so I haven't gotten a chance to look close. It's not huge though.

It's close enough that I'll be able to pull from the driveway.
