After engine is up to temperature the engine has a buzzing/whining sound just at idle. Pick up rpms and its gone. They thought it was comeing from the oil filter and changed the filter and it deapeared for a while but its back again.
Anyone have any ideas? Very hard to pinpoint the sound even with a styphiscope. Going back to dealer.

I took the time today and got out my stethoscope probe and searched the truck for the noise. I seem to have found the location on front of engine where i think the water pump is located. Not sure as i never had a diesel. Just behind the top pulley is where this noise seems loudest. Any ideas if I might be right or this something else I'm looking at.
Behind that upper pulley, I believe Ford has their High Pressure fuel pump. If the CP4 is anything similar to the CP3, then I believe that it's just the nature of the beast. Is it a noise that isn't consistent? I get the same thing on my RAM so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Thankfully, yours is nestled in the "V" of the engine so it helps insulate the noise.
Yes it goes away at times. Most on idle is when i hear it most. If i raise the rpm just off idle it goes away. I have to shut down the truck if im trying to talk at a drive through. Cant hear what the person is saying or they cant hear me as the noise is to load.
Its rather embarising to pull in some where with a new truck and making the noise it does.
My 2011 never made this noise , always quiet. They (dealer) said they never heard that noise in a truck either.
Its just like a pump sucking air is my best discription. Like a power streering low on oil. Iits seems to be right behind the top pulley on the engine. I get the most noise there with the probe. No where else. If i shut it off the noise may go away for a while in that area. Then it will come back.

Ok, time to post your own video of your issue... very difficult to describe strange noises in words otherwise.
I guess i will try to do a video. At least take a picture of the place of which i think the noise is coming from. I will try tomorrow if its not raining.
Thanks guys for trying to help me out.
The place where i believe the noise is coming from is where the vacume pump and fuel pump set. Tried for video but its a crappy day out and couldnt get the cell phone camera to pick the sound up. Very windy!
Will keep you posted.
Told today a part was ordered for the noise issue and will let me know when its in. He didnt say at the time of notice what the part is. Will see where we go from here. I am thinking vac pump as he thought it was that or fuel pump. I hope the hail its not the fuel pump. Will keep you posted as we move forward.
