How can I ID the type of rear end on my 71 F250 4x4? It has a differential cover with 10 bolts and I see a tag that shows it as 4.10 gears. What's a Dana 60 rear look like?

It will have a "D60" casted into the pumkin. Also on the outside of the drums the hub sticks out with 6 bolts that hold the axle in.

I own a 71 F250 4X. The origonal axle that was in it was a D60 16 spline 4:10 w/ a Trac-loc.

I emailed you P.S. instructions.

Thanks for the PS instructions! Not having a welder may be a slight problem. I'm going to check out price and availability of the steering unit and pump. I figure I'd have less of a chance getting a worn part from the bone yard. I'm going to do a bit of research to see if there is a pitman arm that is already made to the required conversion configuration. I'll also hit the bone yards to check out configurations on newer 70's trucks with power steering. I'll yank the pump brackets if I find them.

I looked at the diff housing of my truck and found a "60" cast into the lower right. I'll assume it is a Dana 60. Thanks again!

BTW. Super nice log cabin!
