I have researched quite a bit for my dad, as he's looking to get a little extra from his 2003 6.0 PSD dually (towing and fun). So I know basically what we need, and routine maintenance is on the list (though this truck was WELL maintained) as well as basic things like an SCT tuner/custom tunes and probably 4" exhaust. Thanks to all the invaluable information and knowledgeable people here.
What I haven't seen any reference to is this: With the 6.0 PSD and a 6 speed manual, what is the limit point of the factory clutch? I haven't seen clutch upgrades mentioned anywhere as of yet, only references to tunes that work well or don't work well with the auto trans (mostly shift point tuning, etc.). After a certain amount of modification, will clutch upgrading be needed?
Bumping up. No general consensus on the clutch of the 6.0 6 speed? That's pretty great if it's got enough clamping force from the factory to be a non-issue until serious power is being made. Dad's truck will never get that far. We don't expect to be studded really, but there's many full blown drag vehicles that started out as just a few extra ponies...heh.
