Just bought my 2000 f150 lariet almost a week ago. There were some problems that the used car dealer is taking care of. In fact its been in their shop getting some things worked on. There is one thing they say they can't fix, its a dealer only deal. Its the digital odometer. Sometimes it doesn't come on for up to 2 minutes after the truck is started. Sometimes it will go off while you are driving and then reappear. Is this just a loose connection in the instrument panel or is this something expensive.
Also the tach is sticking. While driving when you accelerate and the truck shifts gears sometimes the tach wont drop back down to the real rpm that the motor is turning. I first noticed this when stopped at a stoplight and the tach read 2k rpm. I turned the radio down and listened to the motor and it was idling normally, so i tapped the instument panel and the tach came back down to 600 or 700 rpm.
I'm being told this a ford dealer only fix and very expensive. When I bought the truck the used car dealer said they would fix what was wrong with it, sooooo I want them to fix it, but I'm worried about them balking at a large figure to fix the instrument panel....
Any thoughts or help on this one?
mac 'nice truck...just lots of little things at 54k miles' gyvr
Good deal, glad to hear it. If they are going to spend the money to repair the cluster, I would think that they would spring for some brake pads.
