WINDSHIELD FIT

Hello, I posted a tread in the auto body forum to see if the windshield from my 73 donor would fit my 69. I had a response from a glass tech. who said it would fit. It's not that I don't believe it, but D.C. parts has a different part number for the rubber gasket. So just double checking. What rubber would I use if it is the same glass the 73 or 69. THX David

Biggest difference is if your windshield does or does not have trim.

One type accepts trim, one does not.

THX mine has the chrome trim. I was wondering if that was it. The rubber is spendy. Don't want to mess it up. THX Again.

1967/79 F100/750 & 1978/79 Bronco windshield: Same, but the w/shield w/strips are different.

The difference has to do with the shape of the four corners of the windshield frame: 1967/72 vs 1973/79.

1967/72:

C7TZ-8103110-A .. W/Shield W/Strip = Use without stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings.

C7TZ-8103110-B .. W/Shield W/Strip = Use with stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1973/79: There are 3 different w/strips:

D3TZ-1003110-F = Use without stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings.

D3TZ-1003110-E = 1973/76 and 1977 before serial number O40,001 = Use with stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings.

D7TZ-1003110-B = 1977 from serial number O40,001, 1978/79: Use with one piece flexible plastic chrome w/shield reveal moulding & center joint clip.

I'll be keeping this thread for future reference. I didn't know there were 3 for the 73-79.

Yep. The 73-early 77 had stainless trim that was almost as wide as a bump. The late 77 to 79's trim that Bill described was narrow. About 1/2" wide.

Appreciate you describing the differences between the 2 different trims. I assume they can be swapped 73-77.5 on to a 77.5-79 or vise versa. As long as the matching gasket is used with the trim?

Correct. As long as you use the matching trim you can use any of the 3 choices Bill stated on any Dent. BTW, The thin late 77 to 79 plastic chrome was sold cut to fit. One would do the bottom, one the top, and a 3rd to do both sides. Then there were separate corner pieces to finish it off. IMHO I'd go for the stainless.

I've seen post on here where some guys had bought from aftermarket sellers that had trouble with the SS fitting into and staying inside the slit groove for it.

Don't know if they used any soapy water lube or not.
I do like the wide ss windshield wide gasket cover for the my 71, but, I stopped from buying one of the windshield gasket since seeing them having install problems with the ss shield.
Don't know if any OEM windshield gasket can be had any more?

I have seen mentioned on this forum some guy knows a secret on how to install the trim easily. He said most people trying to install it incorrectly. Was months and months ago. I'll check on the weatherstrip for you Orich. Which one you want? The Bump with trim one I am assuming?

The one that I'd like is for the wide SS cover. Gasket has the thin slits in it.

Mine now is an oem from ford, a friend who was a new car salesman back in the 80's got it for me at this cost $80 bucks back then, It's was the all black not fancy one.
