I had Mike at 5 Star send me an SC3 setup for my 3 valve 08 5.4 CC and it was night and day. But everything I have seen or read about the earlier 2 valves being bumped on a tuner has been less than stellar. The big difference on my 08 was the removal of the horrible lag in the drive-by-wire throttle and the lazy shifts. Your 01 won't suffer from those particular ailments. Your dollars might be better spent on the Y-pipe upgrade if you haven't done that yet...
Flip on it! I had one on my 2 valve F350 in my sig for about three months, now it sits on a shelf in my garage. Got it on CL now, get gears and the ypipe best things I ever did besides the shift kit I installed and now my Detroit Locker

this was my experience also, but i also have a 2008..
all the three valve motors seem to get better with a tuner, mostly because they use drive by wire and the tuner takes all the delay out of the throttle pedal, and it adjusts the five speed trans that Ford has set to the worst shift points etc
