Hello everyone, My name is Mike and purchased a 2005 Ford Excursion with the 6.0 Diesel with 67,000 miles, in Feb of 2013. Reason for purchasing was that my wife and I adopted 2 boys making and needed more room for all 5 of our children and be able to pull camper without having to use 2 vehicles. Did research and found the excursion to be the best fit. Didn't research the history of the 6.0 diesel. Every thing was great until almost 1yr later. I was told by a dealer that I needed FICM and STC kit and Dummy Plugs repaired. A friend referred me to a guy. He replaced and Upgraded FICM but said after tests that dummy plugs were ok. I got it back and seemed to do ok. The next day I had drill and had to drive about 50 miles. Got there shut truck off, came back out a few mins later and it turned over but didn't fire. Came back a couple hours later it fired right up. Now I have intermittent heat. Was told head Gasket. I am frustrated to say the least. Need help on what to do! Thank you

Welcome to fte, what a great find an excursion 6.0 with low miles! If you can do wrenching yourself check you the tech folder in the 6.0 section. I bought mine 4 years ago and have learned a ton of great stuff on this site. You will need digital gauges if you don't have any, to monitor the health of your engine.
