Question turn signal problems

I have a 69 f100 that I just finished re-wiring with a painless kit. Also put a new turn signal cam from Dennis Carpenter. My issue is when I turn the driver side turn signal on it blinks fast then normal then fast and etc. Also only the rear signal works. Passenger side work normal front and back.
All parking lights work so it's not a bulb issue. Brake lights also don't work. I was thinking its the flasher but if it was the brake lights would work.
Any idea's what the problem is?

Just in case there is a little confusion, the brake lights work with the turn signal circuit on the rear, not parking.

Turn signal cam only knocks the signal off, has nothing to do with function at all.

There are 3 wires going to the rear on factory set, no idea on aftermarket. One handles the tails and the other two brake and turn signal each. Usually fast blink means bad bulb, in your case it could mean bad connection. I can only guess but I'd bet it's in the column area.

as Jowilker said, park light circuit is in no way conected to turn and brake.

the bulb has 2 filiments, one for park and one for brake/turn. It either has a bad signal switch, a bad connection to the front turn bulb, a bad front socket, a bad ground at the front socket, or a bad front bulb.

get out your test light, jump out your flasher so it has constant juice to the lights and see where you lose the power. If you have power all the way to the light bulb, check the ground wire.

The last time I had fast blinking bulbs, it was actually the alternator that had gone bad and was overcharging the battery. I found that one out when it blew the battery up! Bloody thing sounded like someone was firing off a shotgun in my driveway. New battery + rebuilt alternator = fixed issue.

I will check the connections on the taillights. I also will check all grounds again and check power to the flasher. Also forgot to mention that the turn signal indicator on the dash doesn't work on the drivers side. I only brought up parking lights because the front turn signal and parking lights share the same bulb. Switched out the bulb and still didn't work on the driver side.

2X John and Eric. I think it's in the T/S switch or the column wiring. In the switch itself or a couple wires crossed where the T/S switches wiring connects to the dash harness. Did it do this problem before you changed the switch's cam?

It didn't do it before because the old switch was broken.I guess I said it wrong, I replaced the whole switch wiring in all not just the cam. I used the wiring diagram from fordification.com. JEFFFAFA you gave me the diagram.
The only thing I notice is the main harness going to the column has 8 wires. The turn signal switch only has 7 wires. I thought the last wire was for the horn but I could be wrong.

Uh-Oh. The problem might be the Painless kit then. I've read where other guys had trouble hooking things up. Is Painless' kit color coded like Ford? Was the connector for the T/S switch on the harness the same as your switch?

Wires are the same color as the factory ford harness. The connector was different from my stock one. They sent an adapter harness for a 74 and up column so I used the connector from that which plugged into the main harness. Didn't use the adapter just the connector.

1969's had two different T/S switches depending on production serial number. Before and after G30,001. Which T/s did you buy and for which number did Painless sell you a harness?

T/S switch I bought was C9TZ-13341-C from Dennis Carpenter. (before G30,001 which matches my Vin.) The harness is this one 21 Circuit Direct Fit 1967-77 F-Series Ford Truck Harness w/o SwitchesDetails | Painless Performance

Both the L/F turn lamp and the L/S cluster indicator are both powered by the same green w/ white tracer wire out of the T/S switch. I bet this wire came loose or is not seated all the way in the Switch and Dash harness connector. Without these bulbs adding load to the curcuit only the rear bulb will flash fast.

I'm going to check it out tonight. Also I'm going to double check the wiring on both the harness and the T/S switch.

Thanks Jeff!

I am going to suggest that you get to about as basic as you can go. You will need a circuit tester, and a hot 12v wire. I swapped in a 76 column into my 66 a few years back. I found the horn wire, and the inbound hot wire, and had it all figured out in about an hour. I powered each wire until I had tested them all as to where they went. That way you don't send brake to the front. It is all pretty basic, or I wouldn't have been able to figure it out.

Bet it wont take you long to figure it out.
