Gear Indicator Cable
Took it to a local ford dealer to get a price on replacement and they informed me that it was going to be extremely expensive and that I was going to have to replace the whole shifting unit.
Not accepting this as an answer I took the vehicle home, opened it up myself and found that dental floss has more strength then the cable they used for this purpose.
A quick fix I came up with is to use a single cable from the inside of a telephone wire (usually has 4 wires inside it). The wire is just small enough to fix through the factory opening. But offers about 10X more strength.
Thought I would post this incase anyone else runs into this problem.
