winter grill

Hey, I saw an F-250 new diesel with a front winter cover. I have looked for quite some time but no luck. Anybody know where to get one. I tried to get the guy to talk to him but I was on foot and he was driving by. I had one on my Chev and it sure helped when temps were -30 or colder. It was not metal.

I really like the slot option

Here's another option if you're willing to do a little work yourself, and if grandma doesn't mind helping out.

lundman,

I have the Fia WF922-18 installed on my truck. It does help the truck warm up faster (temps ranging down to -20F so far) and it looks good even on the chrome grill. A couple of notes on it: 1) if you are installing it in the cold weather, remove the grill and let it warm up inside for a couple hours before you install. 2) the instructions have you install the adhesive snaps using the mesh bug screen as a guide. Agreed, but make sure the snaps on the winter cover are in the same place. I have one snap that doesn't line up with the winter cover. 3) the instructions say you can use a hair dryer to set the snaps faster, yes, do it. 4) put the winter cover in the dryer for a couple minutes before you install it. The heat makes it softer and easier to work with.

Fia doesn't fit the newer Super Duties. I checked it out already. On my Chev truck Chev made a cover that fit nicely and in the summer I had the bug screen that came with it. Talk about saving the front end. So many bugs in the summer. And having the truck warm up in the winter faster was so nice. Ford missed the boat on this one.

Shouldve got the supplemental electric heater, it works great. Ford was on top of it, haha!

The one I linked too looks like it was designed like the Chevy stocker is. I know what you are talking about there.

The link I sent looks like it will do both... After driving cross country a bug screen would be nice. It saves the hours of polishing the chrome and paint and then picking bugs out of the radiators.

Fia doesn't fit the newer Super Duties ??? I have a 2011 SD and the Fia cover and screen are a year old. Did I miss something, when did they change the grill? Aren't the 2014s the same as the 2010 up? Mine fits very nicely and works to the point that I have some heat within a couple of miles even at 0 deg.

WF922-18 I believe fits 2010 thru 2014 (probably 2015 also) $75.00

Maybe 2011 - 2014. 2010 was a different size grill and that one does NOT fit that model per the website.

The one you linked supposedly fits the 2011-2014 though.

2015? Who knows - since none are out publicly yet, no one has measured one out yet. But if I had to guess it probably will - I just wouldn't trust it until they say it will fit.

I have that Aux Elect Heater. Cab is cold anyway.
The Elect Heater does not help the engine warm up. It takes at least 10 miles for the engine to get close to normal temps.
It got down to -34 this winter. -10 thru -25 was common.

This rig really does need a cover in the cold in this area.

Haha, ya fair enough. I'm in nd and my engine temp would only get to 176 on a 10 mile drive. My supplemental heater works great though. Blows warm right away!

I hear that people are happy with the Aux Heater........
I took the truck into the Ford Dealer fall/winter of 2011. Dealer said it was working.
I am beginning to believe that the dealer lied to me.

Let me ask........
0*F out..... Temp on the heater set on high or 90*..............
Heater set to blow air out of the dash vents.......
Is the heat when you first start the truck as hot as when the engine gets up to 150* or more ?

That I can't say for certain. I always leave mine on auto and usually park in an unheated garage and it's always nice and warm in the cab. I do not wear a coat in the winter, just sweatshirts unless I am working outside. I've got no complaints.
