My 10 year old Halogen lights are failing. Anyone tried out LED light strips like the "KawellŽ Slim 18w Flood Beam LED Work Light" for auxiliary backup lights?
I am running LED light strips, but nothing like those... Here are pics of what mine look like, I have two strips, and they fit perfectly between the bumper and the doors. These give off a strong blue/white flood light that really lights up the area. I am happy with them.
Here is where I got them, if you are interested...

Those lights are cheap chinese lights. I have literally seen hundreds of that light. They are very bright (you only need one for a backup light) and work well but you are 100% guaranteed to get water inside the lens within a few months. Once water is inside, it is only a matter of time before they die completely. Some last a long time with water inside, others fail very quickly. I would personally try to find another light. That particular style doesn't hold up.
Interesting idea putting them there. Do you have them on a switch or just clicked into the backup lights?
Since they are such a low draw on power, I just wired them into the driver's side reverse light wires. It was a simple setup that has worked very well.

I have a set waiting to get installed, planning on wiring them the same way. OEM wiring originally intended for halogen or filament bulbs is more than sufficient to run low-draw LED's, especially for the short amount of time.
I also have a custom one-off light that I built with some of my friend's 3W Cree LED's. That one is going smack dab in the middle and wired to a switch for tailgaters and oblivious people driving with their high beams on.
lookup southeast overland here in seneca sc. the are a lifetime led dealer. great product. great price. i have purchased around 20 different led lights from them. im about to make my backup light a 30in cree led single stack. (itll be wired to be a get of my a** light also) haha
I have 2 of those mounted on the hitch of my work truck. (remove spaces from link) they light up everything very well.
I had two of those lights installed under the rear bumper of my last truck before I sold it for the Ex. They worked very well in the flood pattern. Once I bought the Ex I purchased two new lights of this same style for the rear in a spot pattern but have yet to install them as I've not found a mountain point I like yet.
