I have an 89 f-150 5.8L 4X4 that idles at 3000+ until I pull the plug in the IAC control, then it idles fine. I have left it unplugged, but it causes it to run rough while it's cold. I have cleaned the IAC and there is obviously power to it (about 10v). The resistance across the solenoid is about 11 ohms. I'm guessing the IAC is not the problem. Any ideas?
I probably mis spoke about the IAC. I meant the Air Bypass Valve. Additionally, on a cold start, the engine idles at about 1000 until it warms up, then it jumps to 3000+!
