Frame swap

So what all would I run into to take a 1970 F250 4x2 and convert into a 4x4? I have a 1972 4x4 frame and running gear located. Owner says he thinks the steering box is shot so that would be one issue. What all would I run into pulling the body off and transfering over? There is no cab on the 4x4 frame. Been told front end back to the rear cab bolts will be the same. Have to relocate the rear cab bolts. Redrill all the bed mounting bolts. Deal with steering, but the rest is pretty much an easy swap. Any thing else I need to be aware of? Thanks for the help.

Should be a pretty much direct swap. Almost everything should bolt right up to each other. You may need to cut a transfer case hole for the shifter in the trans cover.

Couple more questions. My 2wd truck has a live box power steering all ready. It is a F250 camper special if that makes any difference. Can this gear box be used if I convert to 4x4? What the doner has on it is power assist. Not sure what shape it would be in other than the owner of the frame thought the gear box itself was bad. My truck also has a factory aux fuel tank inside of the frame. The doner frame does not. I was looking at the other frame swap question higher up on the forum tonight and the chart they posted there it would seem that maybe the frame width is the same on the 67/72 frames and it did not make any difference if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive. If that is correct than the gentleman I was talking to the other day must of been thinking of the newer frames as he thought the rear cab mount bolts and bed bolts would all have to be relocated. My truck also has power brakes on it. They are disk on the front now and would be going to drum if I was to keep the front axle that is in the doner frame right now. Not sure that is a big deal to me. Not sure if the master cylinder piston bore was difference between the disk and drum systems but I would think installing the correct size to match the brake system would take care of that issue. I believe all the lines are still there. Basically I am looking to make this into a farm truck. As a 2wd if just does not fit the bill once you get off the road.

ihc, The cab/front clip will be bolt hole exchange through 79. I would strongly look at pulling them together so that the alignment issues of fenders is eliminated. It is bulky but not that heavy.

I don't think the 2wd and 4wd steering is swappable. The fuel tank should be moveable and made to work.

I have never worked with 4wd but have done several swaps on 2wd. I have been on here nearly every day for over 10 years, have read too many posts to count. I have come to the conclusion that should I start a new project I would go radical under the sheet metal, probably going up to the 90s with chassis.
