After watching a few U-Tube videos of DIY'ers having to cut back the firewall/heatshield and sawing off the tab from tranny cover, it makes me wonder why MBRP or Diamond Eye didn't make the down pipe the same square shape as the original OEM down pipe.Wouldn't it make installing a new 4" MBRP or Diamond Eye 4" exhaust system a little easier? I'm sure there is a good reason why it's not possible.
I was looking at my exhaust on my 1997 F-250 7.3L. It's 17 yrs. old and needs a few clamps and hangers replaced as they rotted away. It's amazing that the pipes last so long. I was surprised to see what looks like a catylitic converter forward of the muffler. Could this be something different? Some kind of exhaust filter or something? In Massachusetts they don"t do exhaust analysis on diesel engines that are 15 yrs. or older for the Annual Inspection Sticker. So, when it's time to replace my exhaust I'm gonna go with the best stainless steel 4" Turbo Back MBRP. They sound great on the U-tube videos. But not like my Harley
