Replacing Vacuum Line Through Firewall
I've been working on fixing the defrost-only problem on my "new" F150 the past few days, and I've narrowed the problem down to a blocked vacuum line through the firewall. When I put a hand-operated vacuum pump on this line, I can pump 25 inches of vacuum on it and it will hold from either end with the opposite end open. This tells me that air can't flow through the line, and the end result is I get no vacuum pressure in the cab.
I want to replace the stock vacuum line that runs through the firewall, but I'm curious if anyone has done this, and maybe has some tips for me. Should I use the same firewall grommet as the existing line, or should I drill a new one lower on the firewall for easier access?
Thanks in advance.
