A little while ago i purchased a original 1949-1950 ford radio,i was really happy thinking that i would have an original working ford radio in my truck, well today
i found out that it wont fit the holes in the dash of my 51 f1 were 5 inches
apart & the ***** on the radio are 7 inches apart & i am not going to cut my dash-my buddy has a 1950 f1 we measured the holes on his dash & they
were 7 inches & he already has a new radio in his dash,so if anyone is intrested
in my radio you can contact me at bob5740@verizon.net-727-697-3309
i do not want to make a profit on this,i just thought that maybe i could help

I didn't know you had a 48-50 truck. Are there still some good AM stations out there where you live?

I have several 51-52 radios that I could trade. I have a local friend with a 49 that has been looking for a radio.

Got the pictures from Bob. The radio looks almost correct. The face is correct, but the housing doesn't appear to be correct. Also, Bob's dash has been cut/modified in the radio area. This explains why the radio won't fit.

Bob's pictures.

Here's what the radio supposed to look like. Note the housing.

And the stock dash.

Came across this today.....(not mine) and it said it was for a '51 truck.
It sure doesn't look like one to fit the natural opening for our radio.
Is the seller mistaken on this radio being for a 51/52?
Was it something made to fit the earlier years? Or not at all?

Never saw one like it.....

1951 Ford Pickup Radio 6 Volt New Original Never Installed Very RARE | eBay

It appears to be in an original Ford service parts box, so it was likely bought from the Ford parts counter at one time. But nothing I saw said it fits Ford truck, just 1951 Ford. Could be for passenger car. Either way it's a service parts addition, not an OEM radio. It would be like buying an aftermarket cheap Pioneer radio from your Ford dealer today. It's not the same as the Mach 500 optional sound system that would have come from the factory. I bought a parts truck that has a Motorola aftermarket added radio in the stock hole. There was likely lots of options back then, just like today.
