I am looking at an older EDGE EVOLUTION programmer for my 97 7.3 power stroke, are these any good? do they help gain MPG? can pick it up for 150 bucks.please help if you can THANKS
Thanks guys, have you seen the you tube videos of the guy in Georgia, power stroke help.com? he suggests the SCT tuner, what do you think of that one? I don't mean to sound dumb, but I need to keep it simple.lol
I did order a k&n air filter and mbrp 3" down pipe that should help with MPG I hope,I have already deleted the cat and I may delete the muffler, not sure if it will be too loud.
Stay away from k and n. They are know to dust turbos You can get a 6637 setup for a whole lot cheaper. For tunes most use a ts style chip and get costume tunes burned on it. For in cab gauge to read what the pcm can see and pull codes, a scan gauge is a good option. But the you will need others like trany and egt as the pcm does not read those. Stay away from the power stroke help guy.
agreed. K&N filters you are buying a name only. the filter is inferior. i think the stock filter is actually better than a K&N filter.
SCT is for the 6.0 engine.
for the 7.3 i would recomend a DP tuner.
and don't bother with powerstroke help dot com dude.
bill sells his business with a whole lot of BS that is not needed.

Well, I get my Edge Insight tomorrow so I will let you know. Madpogue and an Edge rep assured me this is how it reads trans temp, so I am thinking it is correct. The only external sensors needed with the Edge anything is an EGT probe. I hope this is all true as well.
