This is what we have at 4.

Clamped up to the fender to see if the curve looks good.

Sanded smooth with new bottom. Good job son.

Nice job on the metal work!
I now have to find a COE for a future project, not easy to find around here.

Dave do yourself a favor and ship one from midwest with very little body damage .no one makes sheet metal pieces and ones that they say fit F1 dont.
You have choice of making it yourself or Buying 2 to make one..I will keep an eye out for you.

Just turned 20 and 22. They have learned more in 1 1/2 years than i did the first 8 when i was their age. Each one has different strengths. The oldest is best at hammering and fabrication. The youngest is best at english wheel and sandblasting. Both are fair welders but we all lack body work skills.

Front clip done grill done cab is al.ost done.

Well great news, the front end has been fabricated, sanded, and in primer. The cab has had new floor pieces and cab corners put in as well as cowl and rocker panels. This feels like a victory for us as its been one rotted off area after another. We now know we have a body and it's on to the doors this winter.

Smooth looking fender.

Metal repairs look invisible.

Got the boys painting.

I would love these chrome.

Came out beautiful. Go back and look at the before pics.

Looking good. Progress seems slow at times, but when you have a lot of projects any progress is awesome! keep it up.

Moving on to the doors.

OMG When i took the doors off i really didn't inspect them well but i knew they were in bad shape. I may just be building a new frame and sides for them. Well its a good thing we held off until our talent improved. This well be a tough one.
Now is the time i wish i had a big shop with lots of equipment.

Outside, inside frame all of it is gone. I know the easiest thing would be convert a F1 door to a Coe door building the arch and just adapting it. I want to try to make a frame first. Someone later can use this for converting a cab into a Coe.

Both doors are about the same but i need to get into the other one for more exact measurements.

You know its bad when you have to tack metal on to hold it in shape to get a shape. Wish me luck!

Any suggestions? How would you attempt this besides converting a conventional door?

My thought is to purchase pre made inner and outer patch panels if they are available and rebuild as much as possible with those then build off that.

That is my plan for my 56 Coe.

Thumbs down

Guys I am thinking replace the frame and then only
use the top near window. Curve a new outside and inside as needed. I am open to advise and am wondering if 48-50 Coe doors are the same. I have a set for the other Coe if I want to postpone the worst ones for another time but it will have to be done eventually.

Yes, the 48-50 doors are the same.

If you use a regular truck door, you will have to relocate the bottom hinge, which may not be simple.

I can take some pics of my COE doors if it will help.....

Thanks Scott but i have the 48 doors and a few pics of others. Do you agree with my thinking of make surrounding frame then outside, then inside? Im open to suggestions but I may have to do my own process of what im capable of.
