acceleration problem
my 94 4.0 ranger is having problems when accelerating through all the gears, it actually loses power and speed and the check engine light comes on every time i accelerate. the spark plugs and wires have been changed within 2 years, also the fuel filter, and o2 sensors have been changed recently. i also have a k & n air filter that has been cleaned and oiled. what else could the problem be? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does the check engine light come on solid, or does it flash on/off? A flashing CEL is the misfire signal, which would explain the low power. If it's a steady one, then you need to have the codes pulled. Double check the plugs to make sure they are the correct ones.

how exactly do i check for codes? i had it hooked up to a computer to run diagnositcs but they could never get a reading because the check engine light never stayed on completely.
