A4OD shifting issues.
Hi, I just purchased a 1991 bronco with the 5.8L and automatic. I think it is the E4OD. I'm having hard shift issues. Not all the time. Also when I put it in drive or reverse it will slam in to gear and kill the engine. Today I checked the wiring at the trans and the relays then disconnected the battery for a minute. Now it shifts into drive or reverse smooth but when driving it will not shift out of first gear while in drive. Will work in first or second but not drive. If I let off the throttle and reapply the throttle while I'm moving it will act like its between gears or nuetral. Is this a shift solenoid that is bad?

you would have the E4OD tranny. I would do 2 things, first pull codes i would then drop the trans pan as i suspect the transmision filter had dropped into the pan.
the solenoid pack could be bad although i would check these other items first as they are cheaper.
