Howdy, and some idi challenges
What should I name thread? Quick question and remember I'm a rigger.
Can I use the aluminum brazing rod with jb weld to add 6" to my rear tank senders float arm to accommodate the 19 gal sender unit to accurately gauge tank capacity of the 38 gallon tank?
1. 9 inch aluminum brazing rod
2. Cut in middle 3 inch stretch of senders float arm (steel or stainless I believes)
3. 1.5 inch overlap on both ends for strength and j b weld the brazing rod on sender arm?
Going to let j.b.weld do its chemical reaction for a good 30 hours then will paint float arm with por 15
any badass suggestions for homemade tank strap cushions??
I was thinking use a skill saw to cut some old mud tire threads to length but is that rubber too hard?
Since you were using aluminum, you should have used Alumaweld to connect the wire. It's very durable. And easy to use with a torch Or use silver solder.

I ran tank air vent (5/8 ID) on topside of both tanks but left both tanks vents with a 18" down tube since only running air and didn't want horizontal or upwards turned lines.
Question is what's good to cap the open end of tank vent hose to minimize moisture and dust intake?
I was thinking double wrapped panty hose with a stainless hose clamps.
Since down tube is easy to access laying under truck change out panty hose every 10-20k miles as needed but I'm sure there's better ways for this rigger to do this.
Went to Fastenal and got 2 washers SAE F/W 5/8 Z part number 1133090 to help seal the Perko gas tank vent part # 0571DP4BLK into the fuel vapor valves grommet. Then couldn't poke grommet fully in hole so 24 hr jb welded . Also used blue thread lock with a smidgen of electrical tape to prevent backing then coated it all in POR15
What are you trying to do? It looks like you are trying to fix your sending unit and fuel pickup. Why not just buy the proper fuel-pickup for that tank? Judging by the amount of time and parts you've thrown on this, I'm skeptical that it would be cheaper to rig something up. Ford still sells fuel-pickups for the truck (not for the van), so you should be good to go.
And no, I wouldn't put dishwasher hose in the tank. I'm sure that will deteriorate in a bath of Diesel fuel. You should use a section of Diesel-rated rubber hose from a parts shop.
I'd ask for a link but too late

I guess I'll go get a "proper diesel rated" pickup hose even though I think my hose is cooler...

Gotta get to Fastenal 1 more time anyways. Install starts tomorrow morning
