main seal leak or something else
I was a 93 f150 with a 302 and aod tranny. It has an oil leak where the tranny is mated to the 302. I have thought that it was the main seal but dont know. I was wondering how i can find out if it is and if that is the case what it would cost and can i do it myslef.

There should be an inspection plate on the bell housing.If you remove it and there is oil in there then it's the rear main seal.If not it could be coming down the block from the intake or the valve covers.
To replace the rear main you have to drop the tranny.

Where is this insption plate, i have tired to look for it but i cant find it. Ither i am looking in the the rong place or have no skill when it comes to working on my truck.

On the E4OD there is a black cap on the bottom of the bellhousing, I would think your trans bellhousing should be about the same, may be wrong though. The cap pops off and you should then be able to look in to see if there is oil present.

The inspection plate on the AOD tranny is on the bell housing, underneath the truck where the transmission mates to the engine. There are two bolts that hold it in place. I think the bolts are 10mm. Remove those bolts and the plate just slides down.
