Winter Camping

So we are up in the northern eastern part of Maryland. Just short of the PA/DE or whatever border. Place called Bar Harbor.

First night (tues) was down to about 10 deg. Last night was around 20f and snow.

That nor'easter Hit here as well. So we have some pictures before and after the latest snowfall. About 6" or so

Back home they received more like 18".

This place is about 83 miles from home so just a short trip. We have never stayed here before but I'd recommend it.

Looks beautiful.
In weather like that, our camper stays at home.
Holiday Inn is it.....

Too much snow for a Texan! How did the camper handle that cold weather and how long did a tank of propane last? One last question off topic. Does the headache rack make a noticeable difference in your sharp turning radius?

I have gone through about 1 bottle is all. I have some electric heaters as well. We are sitting about 72F inside. Mine is setup for cold weather, plus I have Radiant flooring too....fireplace as well.

Headache rack and toolbox are ranchhand. Does not interfere at all since I have the long bed.

Wow memories! My parents and I were just talking the days we would go winter camping. We did a number of times back in the late 80s at a local state park. That was with the first motorhome and even the second one as well. After that it was to my uncle's place for this birthday every January.

Good luck and have fun. I think you are cheating with the fireplace and radiant floor heating. Times have changed from having a warm sleeping bag and clothes.

Nice pics Scott. Our new Voltage has cold weather prep, may have to look into extending my season some. Do you bring an air compressor or just run pink stuff when done camping?

And my little brother always asks when I'm going "glamping" next.......

I just run the pink stuff when we are done. It will take just a few minutes to winterize. I typically don't use the rear bathroom on these trips so it is less than a gallon to winterize it.

Love it. My answer to winter in the camper is use the heck out of electric space heaters. Use the parks electricity instead of my propane! Electric blankets are awesome too.

I've never had my water supply line freeze up but that would be my main worry.

Have fun, wish I were out there too.

The water line has froze every day on me. I have two hoses. So I switch them out.

I just fill the tank and use that so that I don't have to worry about it.

My belly of the 5er is heated so nothing freezes.

Awesome shots, Scott. Musta been very cool relaxing in that thing anticipating the storm's arrival. Radiant floor, AND a fireplace, too. Man...

Nice pictures... but that looks too cold for this Texan.

BTW... Ranch Hand are some great products and are very popular here.
