Hi everybody i am having an issue with a 1990 ford f150 5.0 litre 4x4
it wont run it cranks over it has spark i squirted fuel into the throttle body
and it didnt even fire or try to.When i went to check the timing i turned the engine over to number 1 tdc compression and looked at the rotor and it was pointing to number 1 plug wire terminal but on the harmonic balancer the line scribed in the balancer does not line up with the bolted tang point and the engine sounds like it turns over too fast almost free like any help would be great thank you
Check to see if the timing chain is still connected....take the cap off the distributor..."Don't unplug any of the wires" Then turn the crankshaft by hand with the proper tools....As your turning the crankshaft check to see if the rotor moves. Then turn it back and and fourth to see how much slack you have. If the rotor on the distributor moves your timing chain is still connected..You will have to go from there...Press the accelerator to the floor and try cranking it.....IF that don't work make sure your fuel pump turns on when you turn the ignition on you should here it prime for a second then stop..."Thats how it does on my 1992." I had an issue with one of the wires that came off of the coil a while back that caused my vehicle not to crank...it would just turn over and over..once I pressed it in a little it fired right up....Im not an expert just going by my own experience.
