Well, When I was 16 I was cutting grass with an Ex brother in law, probably around 1974 or so. One of our customers had a dusty old looking Charger in her garage. My Brother in law ended up buying it for me>>>ready for this>>> for $125.00. We towed it home my dad couldn't say a nice word about it. LOL, washed 4 years of dust off it, charged the battery and it came to life, really nice car, just WOULD not start in the cold. It was the first of many, I don't think I could count all the cars I have had, only a couple new, lot of big old Caddys and lincoln's. And so the story continues, with my used F250, I doubt I will every buy another new vehicle, leave those for the kids.
to those questioning if they`re still considered young at 29 & 30.....not only are you young but your in your prime.....as far as having nice a car/truck at a young age or any age I don't have a problem with that......but what I do see a lot of in my work is people on government assistance driving flashy cars with blinged out wheels etc... that irks me.....by the way I`m 42 been on my own since 17 like Sinatra said "I did it my way" ......raise one up for all the hard working guys out there regardless of their age here`s to you

Ah, the world is changing, LOL, kids are learning slower than we did, I ended up getting my daughter a job where I work, doesn't pay good, doesn't pay bad, she's 24, after getting up at 4:30 in the morning, starting work at 5:00 she's grown up some. Her brother is a little older and he laugh's his butt off now when his sister says she's go to to go to bed at 9:30 at night.
Haha I started working when I was 16 when I got my first car. It was paid for by the insurance from when my mom's ranger got T-boned (she was fine thankfully), a 98 mustang GT. My parents gave it to me and said that will be the last thing I'd get from then and to find a job. So I found a job taking care of horses before and after school. I'd get up at 4am to get there and feed them and let them out and check the water. After school I'd drive back out there (15 miles one way) and do it again plus fix fences or anything else that had broken for 100 bucks a week. Just barely covered the gas lol. At 17 I bought my 97 F150 from a friends mother (the truck had been her husbands who passed away and didn't want it around any more) for a 1000 cash. I started interning that Summer at a data center full time and got hired the next year at 18 while still in school. Did the joint enrollment at the local community college and I am still there now picking away at a degree. Then I made my first bad decision and decided that the best way to get credit for a house was to buy a car, and if I'm doing that I might as well get the car of my dreams, a 2012 Mustang haha. That started me quickly going through a couple vehicles (2010 hyundai sonata and a 04 F150). I then ended up being able to get a house loan anyway without the need for those vehicle's credit and was stuck with more bills than I wanted. I decided to consolidate into my current 04 F250 and told myself that was it (almost just bought a jeep but I am thankful the bank declined it as I've now realized I almost fell back into that trap). Bought my house at 19 and I am a full time worker and student (and just turned 20 at Christmas time)
I've definitely made some bad choices along the way (I too spent more money on mods on that first F150 then I should have) but I like to think I'm ahead of the curve. My truck will be paid off this year and then I'll be making double payments on the house (15 year loan with 4.99%, slightly less free money haha). I've busted my a** for what I have and gave up some other things I could have done, but when everything's paid off before I'm 30, I'll be living a cake dream.

awesome man you got it figured out wish I had that vision at such a young age.....I`m playing catch up now for my missteps but better late than never I guess
Very interesting reading this thread, just wanted to lay out my story to compare with others. I got my first truck, a 67 f100, 6 cyl 3spd for $600 cash in 1980. I was 28, had 2 kids a great wife and was buying a chunk of ground to build a house. I drove that Ford for 20 years. Spent $250 on it once as the old engine let go. I was pulling a 6 ton fertilizer spreader with it! I was trying to start farming too and worked a job in town. In 2000 I got me a nice 96 F150 short bed with A/C and power steering. In 2007 I bought a truck camper needed a 250 to haul it so traded my 150 for a 99 SD. Paid cash for that one too. In 2013 I moved up to my 04 SD PSD and I love this truck but want it to last. I bought a 91 f150 beater in Nov. to save the SD from the salt bath we have here in Iowa winters. I plan to keep them both for a long time! during that time, helped the kids thru college, paid for our 100 acre farm, took some fantastic vacations with my wonderful wife and just retired. Life is good, but God is great. without Him I would have nothing. I sure like driving that 04 SD with heated leather seats and all that power. Thanks for listening to another long story and keep driving those Super Duties!
