i bought a 1998 navigator that was sitting for a while bit by bit im makin my way through changed out airride to coil and redid brake lines etc now im working on the crank no start...its been touchy sometimes she will go other times she just cranks no theft light blinking at me replaced the crankshaft sensor andit started again for a few days now what im finding is that with they key on im not getting the mil check engine light so that tells me the ecm aint getting power so i jumped the relay and turned the key the mil light comes on with the relay jumped but doesnt without it jumped i swapped out relays and same thing i get the mil when its jumped and nothing when it isnt jumped....i got a used ecm same numbers and hooked it up still no go.....i took a look at the wiring going into the ecc someone was in there before me at what looks like the grounds they have five retied together in the harness and one that goes to the inside of the firewall however i noticed they only took one of the five of the ground wires for the ecm and then connected it further up the harness so i cant see how all those 5 grounds now have a new lead seems like the slice shoulda been made in to each of the 5 wires not just one of the five then pigtailed to the ground or maybe im wrong on this....so if changin out the relay doesnt sdo anything but i at least get a check engine light with it jumped and seeing as 2 ecc prolly arent bad what would you guys suggest
ok need a I help here I am stil drugging through this crank no start no mi light ive come to the conclusion that its a power issue all my fuses are good in the power distribution box 24 and 30 in the inside panel and the 5 in the mini fuse under the hood I have power to one side of the pcm relay on leg im guessing I need constant power from the 24 fuse 30 amp under the hood and switch power on another leg from the inside panel with key on....I have no power to my pcm diode wich shows that the pcm diode gets power from the fused panel inside the truck the fuse on the inside has power to both sides then is suppose to go to the diode....when I take the diode out and test both sides with a multimeter I get nothing one red end to one side the other grounded and 0 and same with the other side of the diode....soooim assuming that there is a break in the power line from the inside panel to the diode....is this correct and if so can I just add a wire to the back of the fuse and run power to the diode.....so that the current can continue through the diode then to the other leg of the relay.
because when I jumper 30 and 87 in the box itself with the relay out I get a mil light on key on engine off sooo do yas think I found my issue don't wanna do it without a poll seeing as I don't wanna fry my pcm
Fuse #30 in the under hood fuse box is what supplies power to the PCM diode. Then from the other side of the diode the power goes to coil of the PCM relay. The second side of the PCM relay coil goes to ground.
Fuse #30 mentioned above is switched and only has (supplies) power when the ignition is in the start or run positions.
